New community minibus services to support passengers in East Hull

Hull City Council has linked up with East Hull Community Transport to deliver a community minibus service for Marfleet and medibus service from East Hull to Castle Hill Hospital

Hull City Council has announced that two new community minibus services will launch in November to support passengers in the east of the city.

The Marfleet Community Minibus Service will run from -

  • David Lister Court
  • Endeavour Crescent
  • Ingland Court

and take passengers to -

  • Morrisons
  • Aldi
  • Greenwich Shops
  • Marfleet Group Practice
  • Diadem Medical Practice
  • Kingston Health Centre

There will also be a new demand responsive transport ‘medibus’ service for the East Hull area (east of the river) to Castle Hill that will service the wards of -

  • Drypool
  • Southcoates
  • Marfleet
  • Longhill and Bilton Grange
  • Ings
  • Holderness
  • Sutton
  • West Carr
  • North Carr
  • Kingswood

East Hull Community Transport has been appointed to run both services, which will run as pilots until the end of March 2025, when the council expects to hear about future funding from the Department for Transport.

The services will only be able to continue, long term, if there is evidence of real demand through the number of passengers using them, allowing the council to gain further Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding from the Government for 2025/26.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at Hull City Council, said -

“In response to feedback from our residents, the council is delighted to have linked up with East Hull Community Transport to launch these new community minibus services and help those who cannot access local shopping, medical facilities or hospital appointments through conventional bus services.

“These new services will provide real and tangible benefits for communities in the east of the city and will help the council achieve its aspirations of a healthier and fairer Hull and to create safe and welcoming neighbourhoods.”

Rob Foster, CEO at East Hull Community Transport, said - “The new medibus service will provide an essential passenger transport service for the elderly and for disabled members of our community to access medical appointments at Castle Hill Hospital while the launch of the Marfleet Community Minibus Service will provide real benefits for residents and support them in accessing both local shops and health services.”

The Marfleet Community Minibus Service will operate twice-a day, three-days-a-week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
