Members of the public, organisations and businesses are being encouraged to take part in the consultation on Hull’s Local Transport Plan - 2021 to 2026 Refresh. It sets out a number of priorities for the direction of travel.
The 3 drop-in sessions will take place across the following -
- Trinity Market - Friday 13 May, 10am to 3pm
- Paragon Interchange - Tuesday 17 May, 8am to 2pm and Wednesday 18 May 12pm to 6pm
The consultation space in Paragon Interchange will take place in the unit based next to Costa Coffee and in the seating area in Trinity Market.
The way in which people and goods move around Hull is a crucial part of how the city develops in economic, social and environmental terms. Hull City Council is now seeking views from the public to understand Hull’s transport priorities.
As part of this wider consultation, 2 surveys have already taken place last year. They focused on the active travel aspect of transport. This was in a bid to understand the current barriers to improving sustainable travel in Hull.
The latest survey findings showed that 70% of respondents would be able to travel at least 2 to 3 miles on a bike. 80% say they would be able to travel at least 2 to 3 miles by foot.
The survey also revealed that 43% of those who are considering switching to more sustainable forms of transport for shorter journeys would do so to help the environment.
Garry Taylor, assistant director for major projects, culture and place, said - “Over the last year we’ve carried out 2 transport-focused surveys in a bid to understand how people in our city choose to travel, and how we can improve modes of sustainable transport for people from all walks of life.
“The feedback that we have received will ensure that the Local Transport Plan takes everyone’s needs into account and will help the local authority to make sure this future transport plan is focused on the right priorities and actions.”
The aim of the LTP is to provide and develop a safe and efficient transport system with greener alternatives. This includes -
- improved public transport
- cycling
- walking
- the provision of electric car charging points
in a bid to reduce pollution and congestion and enable more active travel.
