The Hull Bus Alliance consists of -

  • Hull City Council
  • Stagecoach East Midlands
  • East Yorkshire Buses

They continually work towards -

  • enhancing services
  • ensuring that buses keep running
  • developing an eco-conscious and sustainable bus network

As a part of achieving these goals, Hull City Council have provided additional funding for the KAT Card to maintain an affordable price for young travellers. It is only £12 a week.

Prior to these changes, Stagecoach adjusted their tickets and fares in April 2022. The changes simplified the tickets available for travel. They included the launch of a Young Person's Ticket range and Flexi tickets.

The changes take place at the same time as East Yorkshire Buses are making a number of changes to the fares on their services. This includes simplified single and return tickets and discounts for 7-day tickets purchased on the EY Buses app.

The Hull Cards provide modest rates. They are available for all Hull residents, offering them unlimited travel in the city and surrounding areas. By using the buses regularly, cardholders can take advantage of the benefits of affordable and flexible travel every day of the week.

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director at Stagecoach East Midlands, said “Stagecoach East Midlands and the Hull Bus Alliance are dedicated to working together to provide an affordable and flexible range of tickets."

“Providing such options through the Bus Alliance encourages regular bus travel, reducing the number of cars on the roads, and giving freedom to passengers of all ages. The Hull Card has been priced to reflect affordability and ease, letting passengers hop on and off the buses and reach any destination across the city and beyond.”

Ben Gilligan, Director at East Yorkshire Buses, said “The Hull Card products have successfully allowed bus users to take advantage of the comprehensive network of services across the city and continue to represent excellent value for money allowing residents to choose the environmentally friendly option for their journeys.”

Kerry Ryan, Strategic Transport Manager at Hull City Council, said “The council remains committed, along with its partners, in supporting the KAT Card to offer reduced fares for our younger population.

"The Hull Bus Alliance has worked hard to retain prices for the past 3 years, helping people through the unprecedented challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"While costs are rising everywhere, we are making sure the KAT Card still offers young people an affordable option for bus travel.

"Encouraging more people to choose bus travel is vital part of our continued efforts to reduce congestion in the city and help residents reduce their carbon footprint.”
