As part of Cycling UK’s Bike Week which runs from Monday 6 to Sunday 12 June, people across the country are being encouraged to enjoy their local communities by bike.

A switch of one journey per day reduces a person’s carbon footprint by approximately 0.5 tonnes over a year.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Roads, Highways, said -

'As the weather warms up more and more people are choosing to cycle. People may enjoy cycling for different reasons, whether it’s to improve their own health, get some exercise or to protect the environment.

If you’ve not tried cycling before, Bike Week 2022 is a great time to give it a go.'
